The Indiana Performing Arts Initiative (IPAI) announces their second Summer Stock theatre series with the opening of The 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee. Based off the fast-paced, wildly funny yet touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and featuring a fresh, vibrant musical score by William Finn, this spelling bee offers audiences one unforgettable experience. An eclectic group of six tweens compete for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing both hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping to avoid the soul-crushing “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Complete with audience participation, the Spelling Bee delivers a riotous dose of comedic genius. Read the full news release.
